An Early Holiday Gift for Military Spouses
October 12, 2007|
The Holiday season is generally rough on military families that have a loved one deployed. I remember attending midnight service on Christmas Eve....alone. While that is my favorite service of the year, my better half was across the globe and my heart was heavy.
SpouseBUZZ LIVE Ft. Bragg/Pope AFB will take place on December 1, and it will fall between two major holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. A time that can be stressful and lonely for military families. Military.com contacted me earlier today to say that they want to cover the registration fees for everyone attending. A Holiday gift to the attendees. WOW! So, although $10 was a small price to pay for such a great event, SpouseBUZZ LIVE Ft. Bragg/Pope is now FREE. And trust me, it's the perfect medicine for the holiday blues that some of you may be experiencing by the time the SpouseBUZZ crew rolls into town.
For those of you who have already registered, your registration fees will be refunded. I'll let you know how that will be handled once I'm informed. For those of you who haven't registered, what are you waiting for? Click here to register.
We'll see you on December 1st.......

Wow! Military.com does it again.
Thank you so much for thinking of us, Military.com!

A big thanks to Military.com!!

Yeah. I too thought $10 was a great deal. Heck, I even signed up for me and Jack Bauer before I knew we'd be able to attend just because it was SUCH a good deal. Wonderful! Thank you Military.com. :D

I think it's wonderful that some will get to go to the event. For those of us too far away to attend, we wish you the best!!
At the beginning you mentioned the holidays and I was looking for some input on that subject from anyone with advice. This is our first deployment and the idea of the holidays without my hubby are already weighing on my mind. Extended family holiday gatherings have always been stressful at best for us, so I am definitely not looking forward to those. However, the holidays with my hubby, daughter and I have always been so special and we have loved spending them among our faith family. This year I just don't know if I can attend the Mass and not have a breakdown. I am thinking of taking my daughter and I and going away somewhere. Anywhere but here. I don't know if this will make it better or worse. Some input for those that have been through it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Seabee Senior -
I am in the same boat as you. Not my first deployment but the first one around the holidays. I have no family, just his and really not looking forward to spending it with them. Looking at taking the kids somewhere and doing something just for us. Would also love some input on this.

I'm sorry I'll miss SB Live at Ft. Bragg but ... I'll be in Italy with my DH for two weeks for his R&R! AAhhhhh! So, I'll have to catch you ladies another time. I'm smiling in case you couldn't tell. :)

That's awesome! I thought $10 or even $20 was pretty good. But you can't beat FREE!
It's also our first Christmas without hubs (but not first deployment). I'm torn between going to my parents (that means traveling half-way across the country with 2 kids) or letting them descend on me (which has it's own drawbacks).

This is great news, although $10 is well worth it.
LAW - I definitely want to carpool. I will be coming from just north of dc and the initial post had quite a few Quantico area carpoolers a bit further down. Hopefully we can get something together.
