Casting Call: We Know you Want a Home Makeover

It happens more often than I care to admit: I sit in my house watching those shows where people win free stuff – renovations, makeovers, etc. – and I think “that could be me.”

But the crazy thing is that it really could. Or, instead, it could be you. Here’s how:

Some folks at a friendly casting company are looking for a military family for a new home renovation show headed for HGTV. The show is not going to focus exclusively on military, but they want a military family for the pilot episode. As usual with this kind of thing, they are looking to fulfill some pretty specific requirements. But these are a little more broad than we’ve seen in the past, so I think one of our readers has a pretty decent shot at getting on this.

They are looking for:

– A military family going through a deployment right now with pre-teens/teenagers at home.

– Someone in need of repairs or renovations (and preferably owning instead of renting, obviously)

– Living in the South

That’s pretty basic. They need someone by November 9 – not very far from now. We also talked to the casting company to make sure this episode is not going to be a military pity party. They sounded committed to focusing the rennovation on increasing the family’s already intense level of awesome empowerment — not saying “poor military person.”

Too bad one of the requirements is the military spouse being deployed right now. With several deployments under his belt my husband is no less worthy, right? lol Otherwise, we have teens and live in the south.

Heather I would apply anyway if I was you. Sometimes these casting people have requirements so stringent that they have trouble finding someone … so they change their desires. :-)
