Military Tax Season
January 7, 2008|
As I stated last year, I personally don't find tax season a fun time of year like some people do, but alas the taxes must still be done.
Below you will find several resources to help you in filing your 2007 taxes.
Your local installation tax office will be opening during the month of January. Check your installation newspaper or website for installation tax office opening dates and contact phone numbers.

Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) - How It Affects 2008 Filing Season

My hubby is leaving in a few weeks and I don't think we will have the necessary information to file our taxes before he leaves. I am capable of having them done somewhere after he leaves for his deployment, but I was just curious if there are any tips or suggestions that others may have for filing taxes alone. Last year hubby didn't leave until after taxes so we were both here. Any ideas??

I love filing my taxes too. I love plugging in the numbers and all that. Yes, I am weird. I can't help it. :)

Rachael--
I've filed the last 4 years without hubby here, and will this year too...be sure to have a copy of the power of attorney to mail with your paperwork, or to show the preparer when you get them done. Even if you file electronically, you have to submit permission to sign his name!
And yeah everyone...I'm one who loves tax season too...so much that I'm hoping to work during tax season next year at one of the big tax companies! LOL!

You guys are cracking me up with 'lovin tax season' - my closest friend also loves tax season, she practically lives for it! I appreciate your comments.
Rachel, Ramie is correct, you will need a POA for mailing or using your local tax office, if you have filed electronically in the past, you and your hubby should have a federal signature PIN number.
Good luck and may tax season be good to you. May the force be with you and all that jazz! :)
