Shaving and other sure signs the spouse is coming soon!
June 24, 2007|
I like to ease into my homecoming preparations.....today I shaved. It's a sure sign my husband is coming home soon.
For me it's a short visit while we're in Minnesota getting my son's leg lengthened, but it's a homecoming of sorts. I know that he's only going to be here for a short visit, but he left 5 weeks ago and, let's face it, why shave in the interim?????
I'm sure there are guys out there who've been wearing their old high school work out shirts that they squirreled in the back of the closet and girls who've all but forgotten how to put on make-up. It's the myriad of everyday things we give up on when the spouse is gone! For me, it's shaving - besides - I'm in MN where the weather is so cold it prohibits wearing shorts!
So, Hubby's coming for a week long visit next weekend and I'm starting the preparations! I think exercising is the next step.......maybe
What's you sure sign you are starting the ritual of getting ready for the spouse to reintegrate!?!?!?

Braiding works well in the interim....

LOL. That is hilarious. The only things I can think of that I will do is pick up the paperwork and get all the laundry put away. Make-up, shaving, hair, all that I do for me in the first place and the husband just gets the benefits of it. This is too funny!!!

Let's see husbands coming home in 4 days for a short visit. Yup, shaving, waxing, haircut, little bit of sun for color, definately the gym and I always have to go shopping for something cute to wear to bed or lounge around in after the kids go to bed, cute cotton shorts and a tank or something. And of course I spend a week planning a gourmet meal with different wines to try....Can't wait!

There's no summer weather in Germany, so shaving wasn't really necessary. I probably did it 5 times the whole year my husband was gone!
My husband requested crab rangoons for the day he got home. It was an odd thing to do at 6 AM, but I made sure he had them!

I take the girlie sheets and blankets off the bed. I'm not sure how hubby would feel coming home to pink sheets or a pink/purple hippie comforter.

DH will be here in a few days. I really must dust.
Legs are shaved as, heck it is too darn hawt here for a sweater on my legs.
And we are celebrating Fathers Day and fourth of July all in 2 1/2 days. So there are festive foods in the making...
and something to lounge in *wink*

My husband just left from our two days. I made sure the house was clean and no pending chores. I also planed meals and places to go with 2 kids. Oh ya I shaved. He seemed to like it.

This makes me laugh so hard! The other day, my mom was cleaning the bathroom and must have noticed that my razor hadn't changed places in quite a while. She said to me, "Heather, don't you shave your legs?" I laughed..."No. Who would I shave my legs for? Why bother?!"
When my hubby is coming home I totally have to re-discover shaving, putting on make-up, fixing my hair, wearing nicer clothes...not because he wouldn't love me as I am but because these things are extra-special and just for him, which he knows and appreciates!

For me, it was putting the clothes away and actually going to the grocery store for food to cook. I made the bed and had the cars detailed. I went to a crafts store, something I only do when there are school projects, and bought all kinds of stuff to decorate for his homecoming. I am not artsy but I knew he wouldn't care that I was no Michaelangelo or Martha Stewart. My friend came over and helped me clean the house. She did my hair as well, as she is a stylist. I notified EVERYONE that all phones were off. We were not taking calls at all, well for the first few days anyways.

went to Bali's and bought new underwear! and ladies, when I showed my ID (I ask for that on my debit card) they immediately took 10% off. this is an outlet, but she told me that ANY Bali's store would do it.
Also looked at getting new sheets, waiting for DH's shopping list for his favourite foods/drinks.. watched TV of a homecoming of some of our guys (they are bringing them home a group at a time)

I have several months yet, but plan to redo our bedroom. This was something we wanted to do before he left, but never got around to it. Of course it will be a surprise for him.
I also shop for special things to wear just for him and will definitely visit the salon before he comes home.

I will aslo be taking off the hot pink sheets & curtains in my bedroom and I made a stop at Victoria S for some new things, My homecoming outfit keeps changing so haven't made a final decision about that yet but have a couple weeks yet.

Thats so true! Even though I personally don't like the feel of unruly stuble, now that he's actually home from deployment, I'm shaving(with shave gel..ooooh) every day!

I'm totally cracking up! DH just returned home from a 6 week school. I spent the whole day before cleaning up my clutter, finally putting folded laundry away. Oh...and had to fill the fridge. We don't have kids...so when he is gone I pretty much live off of Lean Cuisine (or other forzen meals)...so our fridge was totally empty! Oh yeah...touched up the hair color, shaved legs...all that good stuff.

It's amazing how us woman tend to think alike! I would have to say aside from the "personal" things, like shaving, pedicure, etc, I was getting super organized and getting the house nice and tidy. Clean sheets were a must! I always clean and yes I wash my sheets often but with him coming home it had to be perfect!

AWTM, thanks for the reminder about something to lounge in - I just added that to my pack list. I'm driving to NC to welcome my boyfriend home on Friday! :-D

Hubby will be home in about two weeks and I have stopped sleeping on his side of the bed and moved all my night cream, eye cream, books, magazines, and pillows back to my side. Oh, and I went to replace the propane tank on the grill that has been empty since he left. The cars are scheduled to be detailed later this week and I have my haircut, color, and waxing appointment right before he comes home. Now if I could just stop Peanut from appearing at the side of the bed at 2am, we will be ready!

i have some time, but will need tostart putting the t.p. back on the roller!

Too funny! I had to clear off my side of the bed - that's where my laptop has been for the longest time since I've been sleeping on his side (where the alarm is). Also needed to make room in the closet for his stuff, funny how my clothes seemed to migrate to his side. I should probably give him back his side of the bathroom counter too. Already did the hair color, wax and "homecoming outfit" shopping. Oh yeah, and the pink comforter and decorator pillows should probably go, as well. And when he does get here, my son is going to visit Grandpa for a few days. ;-)
