Virtual - and Short! - Spouse Employment Summit Coming June 14

If you're like me, you want to attend all of the neat military spouse events, both in person and via live stream, but who has the time? A recent Military Spouse Summit from the Defense Department had sessions all day over several days. Other events run from 9 a.m. eastern to 4 p.m. or later. I love the ideas for all of these, still I just can't make that kind of time commitment.

But a three-and-a-half hour event? Now that's more like it. And for those of us for whom the discussion over military spouse employment is critical, an upcoming event is just the thing to pop into.

On June 14 the U.S. Chamber Foundation's Hiring Our Heroes (you know, the one that runs In Gear Career), is hosting a 3.5 hour summit at their headquarters in D.C. -- and live streaming it for the rest of the world. With a heavy focus on the importance of military spouse employment and how -- and why -- employers can and should leverage the military spouse workforce, the event features a spread of key leaders in the space. The summit runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. eastern. Easy!

Jill Biden, spouse of former Vice President Joe Biden, is delivering the summit's keynote and joined by a variety of top military spouse leaders like Ellyn Dunford, spouse of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford, and Holly Dailey, spouse of Sergeant Major of the Army Daniel Dailey.

Hiring Our Heroes will also be releasing the results of a recent study on military spouse employment and how it impacts military recruitment, retention and readiness. (Although I think we can all safely guess what that report will say).

If you want to watch the live stream you can go to the Hiring Heroes page. I'll be tuning in from Alaska.
