A recently formed foundation is offering three grants to military spouse small businesses in honor of Military Spouse Appreciation Month -- and all you need to do is apply.

The StreetShares Foundation, backed by JP Morgan Chase, is aimed at helping veteran small business owners get started by offering education, support and grants. But for businesses that apply in April for the May grant, the award is aimed instead at military spouses.

To apply, military spouse small business owners must take the following steps, StreetShares foundation officials said:

  • Download the ebook created for them from this page. This 45-page guide contains dozens of resources to help them get started and grow their businesses.

  • Submit a 300-word summary of their business and a short video on this page

That's it. Applications are due by midnight on the night of April 30.

Up for grabs are grants of $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000.

Between five and 10 finalists are chosen from the applicants based on business idea, use of award funds and potential impact, product-market fit, team and company history and influence of the business on the military and veterans community, the foundation's website says.

Those finalists' profiles are then put on the foundation's website for a public vote.

Finalist profiles are then posted on the StreetShares Facebook page for public vote to determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards.

Go apply!
