It's Halloween care package time, and there are only so many ways you can repackage the same kind of candy so it seems like a treat. So if your service member is missing Halloween this year, try this little trick: make witches' brooms out of paper bags to hold the candy corn! A great trick-or-treat, no matter where you are.
You'll need:
Two brown paper lunch bags
Scissors
Tape
Ribbon
Candy corn (about a hand full for one broom)
A small stick, about 6"
Step One: Ready the broom bottom
Cut slits into the bottom 3/4 of one of your brown paper bags. This is going to make the broom bottom, so don't worry about being perfect. When you're done, shake the bag open.
Step Two: Insert the candy
Fill the other brown bag with a hand full of candy corn or other treat.
Insert the candy bag into the broom-bottom bag. Twist the bags closed.
Step Three: Affix the handle
Put your stick inside the two bags, and twist them around the stalk.
You can secure them with tape so they don't move, but don't worry if the stick moves a little... no one's going to ride it! Cover the tape with some ribbon and... ta-da! A stuffed witches broom!
This would be super cute not just as a treat for your service member, but also for friends, children, teachers, and neighbors. It's also a fun activity to do with little ones. Safety scissors welcome!
