We're EVERYWHERE!

|

For thirty years (since I was about 5 years old) I have wanted to go to Disney World.  How much have I wanted to go to Disney World?  I would pick Disney over a cruise to Hawaii.  I would pick Disney over a world tour (at least the first time).   I would pick Disney World over dinner with Abraham Lincoln if a time machine existed and I were somehow able to secure a special invitation to the White House in 1864.

Disney World has been a really big deal on the airforcewife list of things to do.

After waiting and planning and saving, we decided this year was the year to go.  Everything just fell into place, which is particularly helpful.  We expected a big expense, and as we started pricing things out on the Disney website, our expectations proved to be right on target.

But then I had a chance encounter with another military spouse, and everything changed.

I Love My Deployment Watch

|

When my husband was in Iraq, I kept getting confused about what the time difference was, especially after daylight savings time ended.  At one point we had a laughing argument about what time it was!  Once I found out that Afghanistan is is +4:30, with a weird half hour difference, I knew I was never gonna keep it straight.  So I bought one of these:

Watch

So far, I love it.  And it was really cheap, because I bought it on eBay from Hong Kong.  I had no problems with the transaction, and it even came with extra batteries.

I like feeling connected to him every time I look at my watch...

Here's a twist on our "I Love This Product" category.

My husband came home from pre-deployment training at midnight last night, and when he walked in the door, I realized I had missed out on a whole new phenomenon...

The Army Combat Shirt.  Be still my heart.

I Love This Product Update: Bras, Straps and Lifts, Oh My...

|

Inquiring minds want to know. Many of you have asked how this worked out for me, so here's the low-down, or "lift-up," as it were. In short, they do work, but there's a few things you should know:

First, it takes a while to get your order. If you're looking to order for a special formal or event, you should plan accordingly because it took several weeks for my package to arrive.

Part IV of the Continuing Saga of My Bar Pan

|

It started with a post about going through deployment alone, with no pets or kids.  I baked one biscuit on a small bar pan so often while my husband was gone that it permanently stained the pan.  It was my badge of independence...until my husband broke the pan.  But Homefront Six kindly sent me a new one right before I started deployment again.  I wanted to get to work on a new biscuit ring.

Apparently my eating and baking habits have branched out a bit in the past four years.

I "Hope" I Love This Product

|

It seems that all the cute tops and dresses are cut just narrowly enough that traditional bra straps peek out, even racerback bras don't always do the trick. Drives me insane. Until now, I've done the best I could do - wear black bras with black tops, blue bras with blue dresses and red bras with red tops. That way, when the straps show, at least they don't stand out like a sore thumb. But, the television advertising has sucked me in, despite my pronouncements that I'm very skeptical of this sort of thing.

I've ordered one of these, actually nine, because that's the package. Here's to no more rogue bra straps. Oh, and the side benefit? Looks like I'll get a "boost" which will make me look "one cup size bigger." If you're coming to Tacoma, please don't confuse me with Dolly Parton. I'm a brunette. And I can't sing.

I'll report back on how effective they are once I've tried them out. For more products we love, see here (just keep scrolling down).

Juiceex6_full

While I am trying to break the record for the longest move EVER, I have become increasingly dependent on my Leatherman juice.

Need to cut through a cardboard box in one fail proof swoop, it has you covered.  Need wire cutters?  I am there.  Need a bottle of wine opened?  Why thank you for asking.  Forgot where you laid the screwdriver?  It has you COVERED.

What a Surprise!

|

I have been teasing my husband about Atta Girls for quite a long time.  Like many wives, I coveted an Atta Girl of my very own, but to be honest it was just too much money for me to imagine spending on a piece of jewelry for myself.

I wanted one very much, but I didn't need one.  My kids needed shoes. We needed to take Ike to the vet.  Air Force Guy needed IR flags.  It was kind of a family joke anytime something went wrong - I'd tell AFG, "I expect to see the Atta Girl ribbon for this one!"  the way the kids and I would say, "Hey, let's go tell those people to move out of our house!" when we would drive past some dreamy picturesque manor we'll never be able to afford.

Apparently, my husband is an awful lot more romantic than I ever would have guessed.

I Love This Product: Good Dreams

This morning I came across a wonderful product for children - thanks to this article .  I only wish that I would have known about it sooner.

I have not ordered yet, but it is most certainly on my 'must do' list for today.  Heck, I might even order one for myself - if they have something to fit me!  Anything that can help our little ones during separation from mom or dad - is a great thing!

In all honesty - it is really a household item.  But, I know that I will absolutely use it more than anyone else in my household.  Therefore, it is a gift to me!

A Daily Dose of Pamper

|

I was one of the luckiest teens in the world - rare was the day when I had a zit of any sort.

I just didn't have a pimple problem - no acne, no nothing.  Life was good.

So I'm hoping someone can explain to me how, as soon as I hit my thirties, my skin decided to turn into some terrible version of "Teen Fast Food Worker."

Luckily, help is available.

I Love This Product: Mm-Mm Good Edition

I'm always looking for out-of-the-ordinary gifts to give. Something that is a bit unusual and personalized. I just found something that is right up my alley. I even said to myself, "next time Mr. Andi deploys, he and his colleagues are getting some of these."

I Love This. No, I Don't Love This. Yes, I Do.

|

When I was young and had no appreciation for it, my hair was long, thick, curly, and shiny.  My mom used to put it up in (usually lopsided) pigtails, except when I went through my Laura Ingalls Wilder phase and I wanted it in two braids.  What can I say - Little House on the Prairie was rather popular at the time.

Then I became a teenager and suddenly my hair became important.  And it also became thin, frizzy, and cantankerous.  Luckily, big hair was in.  Because mine wasn't going to sit still for anyone.

Through each of my pregnancies I thought the Hair Fairy had finally blessed me again.  Thick, luxurious locks cascaded from my head in soft ringlets.  But then the kids popped out and my hair decided that it had a sudden and urgent appointment somewhere down my drain.

I've Got Bling!

|

Well, I'll soon have bling...

Marine Wife showed up at SpouseBUZZ LIVE wearing her Marine Corps bling and I was green with envy. While I was in Fayetteville, I got an email from one of the ladies who inspired this post. She told me she purchased her service bling from Rhudy's, a shop in Fayetteville. Unfortunately, I was too busy to get over to Rhudy's. No sweat, they have an on-line store, which you can find here. And it appears they have all kinds of service bling, so run over and get yours. I assume you can place a special order if you want to add a diamond or gemstone to the pendant.

This is great. Mr. Andi didn't much care for the bling that Bling Master Jay designed for me. He's hoping to tone it down a bit. Not very flashy, that one...

Good Lord. I'm not sure what should horrify me most, the fact that I'm actually posting this, or the fact that I didn't think twice about posting this.

Ah well, the name of the game is to share info about great products, isn't it? So, I'm happy to humiliate myself in public. It's called taking one for the team.

I Love This Product

|

Well, this more of a "service" than a product, but it still fits into our new I Love This Product series.

My husband and I flew to Mexico for our honeymoon. By the way, our honeymoon took place three years after we were married because, well, duty calls..... The flight was horrendous. We were stuck in the back row, by the engine, in seats that didn't recline. It took about two days for the ears to stop ringing from the engine noise.
