S'mores around the campfire are always delicious, but s'mores in a deployment care package can be, too! With these dipped chocolate and ghost s'mores, your Halloween care package will be complete. That is, if you don't eat all of them before you get them in the mail!
You'll Need:
A package of ghost-shaped Peeps
18 graham cracker halves
Chocolate for melting (candy melts are least likely to melt during shipping, so consider geography)
Sprinkles
Clear treat bags
Ribbon
Let's get started!
Step One: Melt the chocolate
Chocolate melts readily in a double-broiler, so if your chocolate has no specific instructions for melting on it, plan to use a double-broiler so that you don't get a lumpy mess. If your chocolate has microwave instructions, fabulous for you! We used candy melts, so we used the microwave.
Step Two: Dip the grahams and add the sprinkles
Dip the graham cracker halves in the chocolate and spread them out on a waxed paper or parchment surface.
(If you're willing to do more clean-up, your counters or a plate will do just fine.) Every few grahams, pause the dipping and add your sprinkles. You want to sprinkle the grahams while the chocolate is still hot and unset.
Step Three: Let the grahams cool and the chocolate set
This will only take a few minutes, but to be safe, give it half an hour.
Step Four: Assemble the treat bags
With each bag containing two dipped grahams and one ghost, assemble your bags. You can sandwich the ghost between the grahams or put it out front, like we did - either way, it's delicious! We tied the bags with a little ribbon.
To make sure they would stay bug-free in the shipping process, we put all of our treat bags into a larger ziplock with some Halloween tissue paper and tied that, too, with some ribbon. (Once you've got the Halloween ribbon, you might as well use it!)
