Teach A Man To Fish...

A few years back, He of the Sea and I had the opportunity to play Army family for a year.  It was a fascinating year in many regards, but two things really had an impact on me.  Number One, I could really see clearly the extent of the burden that the Army, and their families, are carrying during our now-decade of war.  Number Two, while Army families were carrying loads much larger than I could really understand, the Army was doing a better-than-average job of providing support and training to those families.

During that year, I was able to attend a variety of Army-sponsored classes designed to help me be a better military spouse, volunteer and community leader.  I learned so much, and I have used those skills in both my personal life and my volunteer endeavors.

This week, I have the pleasure of attending the 55th Annual Americans Working Around the Globe (AWAG) Conference at the beautiful Edelweiss resort in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.  This conference includes three days full of educational seminars with speakers from all over the world, including our favorite June Walbert from USAA.  I am hoping that I will learn lots of new stuff and share some of it with you.

What sort of educational opportunities have you found during your time as a military spouse?  Have they been helpful to you?  I love to hear!
