Fit Club: The August Edition

|

I admit it, it is lame that I have only posted once this month.  I don't know where this summer has gone - it seems like just yesterday that the kids were getting out of school, and now they are starting again on Monday!

On a bright note, I've been sticking to the exercise and eating right routine and I'm seeing some results.  Oddly, most of my clothes still fit, but the scale is moving and I occasionally get a really positive comment.  At first, I was a little disappointed that I wasn't hearing more from people.  C'mon, folks, I've lost a decent chunk of weight - surely someone has noticed.  I'm starting to realize that this is a tough line for many people.  They don't want to be misconstrued if they say something, and possibly offend someone, but they don't want to not say something, either.  I'm not much help, for I tend to shrug off the compliments because I'm not so good at just saying, "Thank you."

The hot weather has really made exercising a challenge, but I've been sneaking into the basement early in the day to do some workout videos.  For those of you who have Comcast (and probably others), their On Demand exercise library has a remarkable number of programs from which to choose.  I've been doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred and it is a really tough workout in just 25 minutes, plus the only equipment you need are weights or something that can act as weights (a mat or carpet helps, too.)  I'd never really explored the On Demand offerings until it was recommended to me by a friend.  If your cable company offers On Demand programming, you should definitely check it out.

I also had a little credit at Marshalls, and I picked up the weights there, plus I got a Tae Bo DVD for just $2.99.  They had an excellent selection of workout videos at that price.

If you are on a budget (who isn't?) and are looking for videos, check out these places.  I'm amazed at what I found.

So, how is your summer going?  Are you keeping up with your workout plans, or have you gotten a little off track?  We're here with you and we want to know!

Off Track in a big way! Hubby returned and now I'm eating more, hehe. up 10 to 15 lbs (staying off scale, hehe.)

Hello She of the Sea,

I've recently lost almost 12 pounds, and I feel great but I understand where you are coming from. I haven't gone down in a pant size yet, but that's probably because before I lost the weight, I was trying not to admit I needed the next size up :) Nonetheless, the doctor recommended that I lose an addt'l 20 pounds to be a healthy weight, for my 5'3-1/2" height. I'm short, but solid, so it's hard for people to sometimes notice when I lose as well.

My problem is making the time to exercise. I started off just cutting back on fast food all together, but if I do get a craving for some McDonald's fries (who doesn't) I get them...but then I won't get another thing for weeks. I also try not to eat past 8pm at night. Which can be a challenge for me when I don't go to bed until 11 or 11:30pm.

You should be proud of yourself for doing exercises, especially at home! That is such a challenge for most people, so keep going! I want to look fabo before my DF returns, so I HAVE to drop the weight!

Stay encouraged!

I've been doing that same work out SoTS, and I can attest to it's butt-kicking properties (literally).

And I'm still working on losing the pre-deployment 15. But it's going. sllllllooooowwwlly

I was alerted by ill fitting clothes, photos, and a scale this week...I am back on board....

oye...

Love My Soldier, I know exactly what you mean about the clothes. I'm starting to wonder exactly how bad I looked in these clothes 20 some pounds ago! I thought they fit just fine, but I guess there was some denial there...or just years of squeezing made me forget how clothes are supposed to fit.

We are both going to be fabo when the DHs come home!

Fit Clubbers!
I wanted to let you all know that I received an email through my FRG channels about the Dr. Oz show looking to profile a milspouse who has lost a considerable amount of weight(50+ pounds) while their soldier is deployed. I think they may be looking to document a homecoming if possible.
Filming for show is Sept 10th~ The contact is Paul D Prince FORSCOM PAO Office line 404-464-7292 Good Luck!
