Time to get off the pot

|

We have almost been in our home for a year now.

There are are a couple of problems, and I will take responsibility for them.

Some of my pictures are still wrapped up.

Why?

First off I am not a decorator, it makes me anxious.  (I come by this naturally, I lived in my parents home for years with bare white walls) Do I really want that there?  Do I really want to punch  a hole in my freshly painted wall only to hate the location of this?

I realize this is ridiculous, and I know some of you all relish getting pictures up to make the house look like home.

We actually donated about 40% of our wall hangings before this last move.  Contending that neither of us were in love with any of them, so why would we want to stare at them every day.

I have decided that I will finish unwrapping art this week, I should look and see what we have at least.  Right?

Plus I can always fix the holes.  Right?

I have to chuckle at this...we called our "picture" box the Big Scary Box and I unloaded it a year after we moved here!

thank goodness I found at least one other person out there, I was feeling like a BIG LOOSER!

and it is scary!

Yes, you can always fix the holes! I'm one of those people who has to get the stuff up on the walls within a week of moving in somewhere new. It's a comfort thing for me...

C'mon AWTM, you can do it!

RLM, this is actually more painful than ironing bedding

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Our walls are pretty bare b/c my husband and I don't want to put excessive holes in the walls. But I think we've finally accepted our "minimalist" decor :)

Good luck with the decorating!

I finally put up a bunch of stuff last week, but only because it has been a year and my in-laws were coming. All my smarty-pants friends have commented that I've finally bothered.

Now if only I could find the incentive to put up curtains instead of those tacky temporary blinds. Ugh!

Right there with ya, AWTM! I have certain pictures I like to get up right away, then it will take me months of shuffling the "needs to be hung on the wall" piles around the house until I finally get around to it. IF I get around to it. While prepping for this PCS I have found 2 boxes with TONS of things we have had hung in other houses. I got rid of some of them, but most are family pictures of sorts. Since we will only be in our next duty station for one year I doubt I will have much hung up... or I won't get them up until it's time to take them down again. Such is life, I guess.
