Fit Club: 'Fessing Up
June 6, 2009|
I admit it - I've been eating terribly lately, and exercise, while still more than a year ago, has been less than I'd like. I have plenty of excuses - I was in Utah last weekend for SpouseBUZZ Live, and I had some issues with my ears on the plane, resulting in icky antibiotics, then I went on an overnight field trip with one of my kids. Pretty much, my life has been the general chaos of a parent whose other half is deployed. The result: some poor eating and not enough good exercise.
So, what's a gal or guy to do? There's only one sensible thing to do - start again tomorrow. That is one of the things I love about life: tomorrow is always a fresh start. The most important thing is that I don't let this little setback ruin all the hard work I've put in so far.

I wanted to look fantastic for block leave and lose like 8 lbs. Well, block leave is next week, and I've lost about 2 lbs. It's hard not to throw my hands up and say "forget it." I vow to keep working on it, even after block leave.

I went into R&R vowing to keep up with my workout routine. Well, aside from the occasional pilates class I attended at the AFB before Dh got there, I completely fell off the band wagon, rolled into a ditched and camped out there.. lol
I just got back this week and went out to bought the Wii + Wii Fit (since it was on my list and my MIL has it) to try a new approach. I tried it out the first day and couldn't believe how 'easy' all the exercises were. I figured it would be a breeze.
The next day I woke up and could barely move my body b'c I was so sore! I couldn't remember the last time I was in that much pain .. lol .. So today was my day 3 and my calves are killing me but aside from that I'm working my way back to the band wagon.
You're definitely right. It's easy to say ' I'm done. ' It takes more to wake up the next day and start over again. But once you do, it feels good .. well, it hurts but eventually it feels good. hehe :)

I have days where I want to throw every sort of food in my mouth, but then I look at the mirror (not the scale) and see how loose my clothes are getting and I remember I am doing this to be healthy for my kids. Especially now that I am a "single" parent while Daddy is in Korea. Of course knowing I am getting to where I was when we first married 15 years ago helps keep me in line as well.

Eating not-so-great here, too, but also started working out for real, LOL -
1) NikkiFitness MWW - lovin' it!!! She kicks my butt and I can still walk afterward, LOL...
2) C25k running program - started it & feelin' great! Hurt my knee (which, annoyingly, didn't become apparent until after the fact), but I did survive! Now the knee is better (I think - it feels fine), & I'm getting some new running shoes tonight to help take care of my poor, overburdened joints going forward, LOL... will be on Week 1's routine for a while at this rate, but it's progress!!! And I'm lovin' it! :-)
