I Love a Bargain: $349 Off!
March 17, 2009|
Guess whose laptop has been crashing all day? Never a good time for that, but right now is the worst possible time. So, boy was I glad to read this. You will be too if you need a new computer, or are looking to add software to your existing computer. I'm thinking of going with a Mac but sticking with my Microsoft software. I'm told by Mac users it can be done, and I don't really have time to learn new software right now.
Off to save $349..... I like this Military Appreciation stuff!

Go Mac. You'll be so happy. You can buy the Mac version of Windows (one of the only things you can't find in Mac version is Access). Or if you're cheap (like me) you can use the Mac software and convert to Windows programs (Word, Power Point, etc.) without having to buy extra software. Sorry to ramble, you're just talking to the Mac converted. :)

I agree with ChattyCassie. I purchased my first Mac in high school 15 years ago saving money from my part time job, and I've never owned a PC. The price is higher initially, but your Mac will last you years over your PC. We just bought the new Macbook Pro--that work of art you see on TV. Aside from the aesthetics, you'll find the operating system so user-friendly and intuitive. I have used Office for MAC but now with their new iWork we won't need to anymore. The best thing you can do for yourself is schedule an appointment with a concierge at the Apple Store. You will get a personalized and very thorough hands on demonstration of the product. Plus they have wonderful military discounts. Most people are just too afraid to switch but to ease that, you can sign up for free workshops at the store to teach you how to use everything to its full potential. I hope you go Apple--it's going to feel that you've traveled to the future :-).

Definitely go Mac. My Hubby just came home with his new MacBook and he loves it. If you haven't bought the software yet, you can order it through AKO for $20 (cost of shipping) and get MicroSoft Office for MAC. Good Hunting!

You know my thoughts...

as a PC person - I'm interested in finding out how you like the Mac if you switch. (I'm thinking of those old commercials..."a [insert brand name of cigarette] smoker would rather fight than switch...) I'm thinking of it,but I am so used to Word and Excel it makes me nervous.

That's the beauty of the Apple Store. You can spend hours using their computers in store and trying out the programs before you buy it. Once you go Mac you'll never go back.

Go with Mac. We switched in the last two years and are so much happier. No more blue screens of death and no constant virus attacks like with pcs. You can easily purchase the mac compatible ms office software and you'll be fine. And Macs are just plain cool. :)

CR - How did you get your military discount?
Thanks to everyone for the tips. Mac it is, and I need it fast....

The Best way to get the discount is by simply letting the Apple Store rep know, and they'll input it into their handheld checkout device--so cool--no cash registers here. You'll need your ID card. Another way is to go to their US Government store Federal employees section. If you purchase Apple products often, the service members can enroll themselves and family members in the Veterans Advantage program.

Oh, I almost forgot. AAFES is also an authorized Apple reseller. Most often the Apple Store will have a better discount for ID cardholders but around the holidays the PX/BX has competitive deals so you just have to compare the specific product you want to buy.
