Hello, Murphy! Come on in and sit awhile!
November 24, 2008|
How can I tell Murphy to take his dumb law and leave? No, really - I'd appreciate any advice.
Also, I'd love it if someone could tell me how to unclog a toilet that doesn't seem to have a clog but won't flush anyway.
And finally, are we the only family that doesn't "do" a traditional Thanksgiving? We're gearing up for our yearly Chinese Food feast and hot movie viewing party. If we can get Murphy to go away, that is.

Murphy has taken up a cot in my garage for like the past year! So if you find a way to evict him.. pass it along! We dont do the traditional Thanksgiving.. usually we just have pizza.. but we have company so it is Ham.. no one eats turkey

I am kinda afraid to ask, but what is a "hot movie"? Something starring Paris Hilton? Heh.

Hmm... we had a "clog that wasn't" before, and it was because the construction in the adjacent lot had cut through our sewer line - one that wasn't on the blueprints...
We (being technically me, since Hubby was in BMT; and also my brother- and sister-in-law, since they were our landlords at the time) worked on it for DAYS, with no success, because we had no idea what the problem was. Then they called the most reputable plumber in the area, who had a pipe snake with a camera at the end. He followed the line and then saw the cut - aka: "hmm... daylight." Very helpful! And oh, how we LOVE that company now!!!
It only took a day or so to fix after that, and we were fortunate that the construction company was really good about it... hope your plumbing issues are resolved soon!!!

Gotta love that Murphy. he reared his ugly head here about 5 months ago.
just days after we found out hubs has to do a year tour in korea (we just bought a house under the go ahead by his CO that we were 'stabilized'), we find out we're pregnant again. After two months of our house on the market and only 2 showings we pulled it off and just decided me and the kids will have to stay. if we went with him it would have been a two year tour and we would have had to hand the deed of the house back to the bank like "sorry we tried". not good.
moreover, about a week later i'm chatting with my neighbor who informs me that our local hospital (5 mins from our house) doesnt DO baby deliveries. so somehow whilst i'm in labor i have to drive myself to the other nearest hospital that does do babies(about 40 mins away).
and then of course, there's the whole "what the heck do i do with the other two kids while i'm in labor/delivering/and in the hospital for 2 days?"
nobody we know lives close enough to come babysit, nor can they take the time from work to hang out here waiting for me to go into labor.
its one of those "you really gotta laugh because if you dont you'll go crazy" type situations LMAO!!
Take that Murphy! :P

Dizzy oh my gosh. I live in NO VA, if you are in area let me know. I would be more than willing to help you out!
God bless,
Oh and we do the whole big turkey thing I would be happy going out or something simple but hubby loves the big traditional thing. I do to, if I don't have to do it! LOL

Okay... this is the first year we HAVEN'T done traditional for Thanksgiving. We had homemade quesadillas, spanish rice, beans, and pecan pie. It was wonderful to not have to cook a huge meal! As for Murphy. My hubby is National Guard, but it seems that every time he has drill that he has to stay the whole weekend, something happens. Last time, I ran out of gas. The gauge said it was on 1/4 tank, but it obviously wasn't. A cop had to push me into the parking lot of the nearest place of business, and it took my best friend over an hour to come rescue me. Hubby just laughed. It's all in how you handle things I guess.
