SpouseBUZZ Radio Special Event
September 11, 2008|
Today I don't talk much, but I still know what day it is. I think a lot. I remember what life was like on 9-10-2001 and how Air Force Guy and I planned to be totally done with the military and move back to California for some sweet civilian job making oodles of money. I remember how it only took one day, 24 hours, for it all to change.
Today on SpouseBUZZ Radio we will be featuring two very special stories. We will talk to LTC Phil Waite about the dedication of the Pentagon 9-11 Memorial taking place today.
We will also talk to Soldier Hard, a To the Fallen Records artist who decided after 9-11that even though he had already done his military time, he needed to re-enlist to be with his military family. We'll be playing Soldier Hard's song "The Military Wife" for you to listen to.
We'll be accepting call ins and talking, and of course we'll be in the chat room, about that day - 9/11/2001 - when the world changed for all Americans, and especially for military families.
You don't want to miss this show tonight at 9 pm Eastern on SpouseBUZZ Radio.

My speakers don't work on my computer so I guess I'll comment here.
That day, I remember perfectly. I was a freshmen in high school. I was late to class and a girl i knew came running down the hall and said, "Our country just got attacked by terrorists!" I grabbed her arm and told her that wasn't funny and if i ever heard her joke around about something like that again, she'd get a fist in the face. My hand still on her arm she pulled me into our study hall just as the second airplane hit the towers.
The rest of the day was..well, there's no word. I've never seen the packed halls of a school more silent. It still makes me cry.

GOD BLESS AMERICA
Read this excerpt from a Romanian Newspaper. The article was written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published after 9/11 under the title "C"ntarea Americii, meaning "Ode To America ") in the Romanian newspaper Evenimentulzilei "The Daily Event" or "News of the Day"
~An Ode to America ~
Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another even if you painted them all one color! They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs. Still, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put on the heart. Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the Army, or the Secret Service that they are only a bunch of losers. Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts. Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about Instead the Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand. After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every place and on every car a government official or the president was passing. On every occasion, they started singing:"God Bless America !" I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people. How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being? Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put into collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit, which no money can buy. What on earth can unite the Americans in such a way? Their land? Their history? Their economic Power? Money? I tried for hours to find an answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding commonplace, I thought things over, I reached but only one conclusion... Only freedom can work such miracles. Cornel Nistorescu

I posted on this yesterday and today in my blog. It's such a vivid memory for me and for countless others as well.
Have a great show tonight. I wish I could call in to touch upon my hubby's reenlistment on 9/11/01, but I have a meeting tonight.

I appreciate the sacrifices of all the military service men and women and their families who serve to defend our nation against America's enemies.
Love the Nistorescu article.
