Household Baggage Handlers: Our Stories
June 15, 2008|
The wonderful Marna Krajeski has delivered a masterpiece with her new book, Household Baggage Handlers.
My copy just arrived yesterday and I dove right in. Household Baggage Handlers is a compilation of 56 stories from 48 military wives. The stories are great! From the back of the book, "With anecdotes from WWII to the present, these compelling stories capture a sisterhood forged by extraordinary circumstances." You can read excerpts here, and order the book here. The tireless Marna is already working on her next book, and your story could be featured in it. If you're interested in submitting a story, more information can be found here.
Marna will appear on SBTR soon to discuss Household Baggage Handlers, so stay tuned.

This looks fantastic! Can't wait to read it :)

I was so proud to hand my copy of this book to my hubby, with my story in it bookmarked. It is just a little vignette about pickles. Nothing about the really insane moments of deployments when the world is crashing down around you. But I actually found, personally, that the hardest moments were the little ones.
I was able to rise to the occasion of fixing the broken car (that waited til DH was gone to need fixing) and traveling across the country or around the world without him. But it was the little things, like needing him to open a jar of pickles for me, that reminded me of how much I really really missed him.

I noticed a few stories from the SpouseBUZZ reader/author family in the book, which made me smile. I meant to ask how many others were in there because we put out a call for submissions on SB when Marna was gathering stories and I wasn't sure who responded.
Congrats on the story being published, I'm sure your husband is very proud of you. I loved your story...
