In Limbo

|

My family has been living in limbo (or what I like to refer to as "hotel hell") for the last ten days and I'm sure we are not alone as PCS season is in full swing.  Luckily, mostly for my children, we are in the home stretch of this move.  One more day confined to just two rooms with my four children could be hazardous to their health!  At this point, the pool is a lifesaver.

Thankfully, our household goods will be delivered in the morning and we will be on our way to normalcy.  Well, at least as normal as things get for our family...  The two things I'm looking forward to the most are sleeping in my own bed again and being able to send the kiddos to their rooms when I'm tired of hearing them complain, whine, or fight.

What do you find yourself missing, or looking forward to, the most when you're in limbo?

my routine. my own sheets. and my books.

LAW

My coffee pot, my bed, and my sanity.

My pepper grinder.

Seriously-I was without my household goods from December to November (a combination of deployment/PCS/long wait in BOQ/billeting) and the thing I missed most was my pepper grinder.

I bought a spare at the base thrift shop and ever since that time I can handle anything.

Since kids a pool and a library card (and a laptop with wifi!) are additional must-haves.

I miss my kitchen and my own bed. As long as I can cook in a decent kitchen then I can be contenet for a couple of days.

Good coffee, home cooked meals (yes, even if it means that *I* have to cook them) and regular access to my computer and the internet

When we moved here to TX from AK I remember very clearly the first thing I cooked on a stove, after nearly two months. It was a grilled cheese sandwich and I swear I savored that thing as if it were filet mignon. I actually journaled it... lol. Ahhhh the little things :P

Yeah, I'm going with cooking too. When we PCSed to Germany, we spent five weeks in billeting. Eating microwave dinners. Ugh. To this day, the sight of a manicotti tv dinner makes me ill.

A bed, any bed. We tend to do a lot of air mattresses/sleeping bags/yos between houses, and I never get enough sleep. A sofa is good, a bed is better, my bed is best!

I simply miss having a space to call my own when we are in limbo!
