New Card Offered Through AAFES

A new credit card offered through the Army and Air Force Exchange Service will allow users to charge purchases at any stores — on or off base — that accept MasterCard.
The new Military Star Rewards MasterCard also will allow users to earn points for purchases, according to AAFES spokesman Master Sgt. Donovan Potter.
The current Military Star credit card, which is run solely by AAFES, can be used only at military exchange stores. The new MasterCard is in partnership with Chase Card Services, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co., and works like a regular credit card, Potter said.
The interest rate for the rewards card is currently at 10.24 percent, Potter said. AAFES sets the rate for both the rewards card and the Military Star card at 4.99 percent above the prime interest rate, he said. On Wednesday, the prime was set at 5.25.
Customers can earn points on the new card in two ways, Potter said. Purchases made at military exchanges will mean two points for every dollar spent. Purchases made at other stores, on or off base, will count for one point.
The points can be redeemed for options such as cash back, airline tickets or exchange gift cards.
Please, no one give my husband this information! I can barely keep him in line with our Star Card and the other "Take It Home Today" account! ;)
