No Wardrobe Malfunction Allowed
September 30, 2007|
I admit to going through a dozen wardrobe changes each time my husband comes home from a deployment or long TDY assignment. I'm always trying to figure it out. Sexy, casual, chic, pulled-together-smart, natural or all of the above? I want to get that wow factor just right. Truth be told, my husband would be thrilled to see me even if I were wearing stretch pants, no make-up and a ball cap, but that doesn't stop me from obsessing over what to wear. I do it every single time.
Have an upcoming reunion and need a little help?
I've never watched the TLC show, What Not to Wear, and know nothing about it. Having said that, I read about an upcoming military show they have in the works via Operation Marriage. It appears this show will be Ft. Bragg specific.
I couldn't find the Military Homecoming info above on TLC's site, so the deadline may have passed, but I did find information on a reunion episode. It would seem to me that this too would be perfect for a redeployment reunion for those of you who may be interested.
Reunite!
What Not to Wear wants to reunite you with someone important in your life. Nominate yourself and tell us who you are, where you live, and about the other person. Why do you want to reunite with this person? How long since you've seen them? Why do you want a makeover before you see them again? Please make sure you tell us: your location, ages, sizes, and complete contact information.
E-mail reunioncasting@bbcnyproduction.com.
Let us know if you apply and are selected. We'll be sure to tune-in.

Oh my gosh.. This would be so great! hehe.. Honestly, I wore sweat/ maternity pants for the first umm.. 5 1/2 months after the baby was born and only in the past 2 weeks got into a pair of jeans.. I have about 9 t-shirts, 7 are military theme and 2 are pink. I have flips flops and a pair of sneakers.. I should apply for this! Maybe they can do something with the bad haircut I got while on vacation 2 months ago hehe

So this may not have much to do with the above entry but I need help! This is my very first time going to the Marine Corps. Ball and I am so excited! It is in San Diego and I need help! I am a St. Louis girl and I have no clue what girls wear to this? I obviously have been looking at long dresses but are there any guidelines???

Ashley,
You can wear long gowns or short ones (and believe me, I've seen some truly short ones..:)
Wear something that you look divine in and are comfortable in. It definitely has to be dressed up but there are no exact rules other than that.
I usually wear long gowns but I'd bet even money that I'm a little older than you.
DO NOT WEAR GLOVES!!
Most importantly, have fun and enjoy it. The Birthday Ball can be a blast..:)

Ashley,
Try not to go too skimpy. It will probably be freezing in the ballroom so have a wrap. Keep in mind the guys will all be wearing their blues so they will be on the warm side.
And ditto to what SemperFi Wife said: Have fun! I've had the best times at these things. Getting dressed up and having a guaranteed date night at least once a year doesn't hurt!

Oh Marine Wife is absolutely right. Not too skimpy!!
I agree too with definitely bringing a wrap. It could be hotter than hell in the ballroom or it could be cold.
It's never anything in between but one or the other.
A wrap is small and easy to pack and even easier to carry with you at the Ball.

I posted on my blog about my son's homecoming. My daughter-in-law related her having worked out what she would wear over the past several months. More of the Gunrunners' return Gunrunners'

Very cool entry! I have always dressed professional for work and casual/mom for home. When Bryan left for Benning I started working out and getting myself back into shape after a long bout with medical problems after Emma was born. Now, 6 dress sizes down and feeling trimmer and more fit than ever, I am finding myself obsessing for the first time about how to make him a little breathless when he sees me after a long period of time away from each other. I am glad to know that others do the same!

Claire, that is awesome!
I had my homecoming dress in the closet for 4 months before he came home. It was just a little sundress. Nothing skimpy. Just kind of sweet. I love buying homecoming clothes.
